Illustrated Talks about the Canal
Three talks about the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal
1. The History & Restoration of the Canal
The canal, opened in 1797, has a fascinating history. The talk describes its route,
combing historic and present-day photographs and maps; it closes by looking at the
progress of restoration.

2. The Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal – Through Time
The lecture presents images of the canal then and now. It is a presentation of the book of the same
title, published in 2013.
3. Building the Meccano Bridge
This lecture tells the story of how the Manchester Bolton & Bury
Canal Society built the Meccano Bridge at Nob End in Little Lever.
The talks last just over one hour and we ask for a minimum donation of £40 plus travel expenses (fuel)
